Léon Ntakiyiruta was the victim of an attack of two men armed with machetes on the night of this Monday, 8 August 2016 to 21 hours while he was on his way home. He received two shots with machetes one hand and on the back. The victim was rescued by a person who was passing through. His attackers fled immediately after the hurting.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. On-site sources say that his health is not in danger. The Motives of this attack is not known. This defender of the rights of man was in exile since January 2016 after the suspension of the activities of his organization by the government.
